Definition: Abandoned Stargates have been left behind in lowsec long ago by the empirial forces. Purpose: Pilots can hook up these abandoned gates to any existing lowsec gate within a certain radius, creating shortcuts and a tighter net throughout lowsec. Number of Gate Guns vary by sec status

Currently, there are 6 gate guns around high-sec gates, and 2 around low-sec ones. There should be a sliding scale based on security status: 0.4: four guns 0.3: three guns 0.2: two guns 0.1: one gun What this would do: 1. Campaign: NPCs

Allow some kind of conflict over the operation of the jump gates themselves.

Various possibilities. One example: a mechanic where, if NPC pirates are allowed to linger around a jump gate for too long, they have some chance of disabling the gate. Maybe some player action is required to encourage the NPCs to do this.
