Letters of marque

Its a pirating license to gank ships from a certain factions and being rewarded for the kills with isk and LP. The hostile faction ships will automatically become orange for you.

Each faction (pirate and empire) allow you to buy letters of marque against specific hostile factions. The bounty ratio depends on the difficulty.

However be warned the letter becomes void if you kill anyone from the giving faction. And you will have to buy a new one. These letters are only valid in low sec.

  2. Yep, an easy & flexible version of it.

  3. Something like this could be useful insofar as circumventing the problem of Alliance members wanting to participate in FW.

There has to be a downside though, which of course should be like the FW downsides -- You're unwelcome in High Sec of the empire that you are Privateering against.

  4. A solution as old as naval piracy itself :)

  5. The only problem I see here is that a Caldari player may not be actively supporting the Caldari.

My first character is Caldari, but has higher Gallente standings; perhaps you should make it standings based rather than "member of".

Or were you intending this to just be against members of the militia?

Also, you didn't say anything about gate guns?

And it doesn't seem like the factions are responsible for the security status, so how would that work?

  6. The core idea is simple and good, however it would need some specification.

1)how are potential targets warned if they meet a privateer ?

(this is void if the gate guns still fire on the agressor)

    2) And how is the faction of a player determined ? Some people are rather independent than attached to a specific faction.

->This is could be solved as follows:

--any privateer taking a contract is marked as temporarily belonging to that faction

--every milita member is of course marked

--normal players/corps might accept a marking to gain some sort of favor from the faction

3)Will a surviving target be able to pursue the attacker even if the agression timer has run out ?

4)The gained ISK/lp have to be tied to the destroyed ship's value to prevent killing of noobship alts for profit
